Skirting boards are designed to hide any messy joins between the wall and floor, as well as providing protection from any scuffs or kicks that might occur when moving furniture or through general wear and tear.

Architrave

Similar to skirting boards, architraves are decorative pieces of wood designed to hide the seal between the door and wall. As well as being decorative, these pieces of wood also provide protection to the wall.
